Research on animal hunting

Usatoday.com-
sea turtles are killed for fashion, with the species now endangered. The trade has been banned for almost 40 years, however the black market continues in Asia. Hawksbills are killed for their meat and also their body, with the use of making leather, perfume and cosmetics. As the animals take so long to breed, many are killed before they even get the chance to reproduce.
Poachers are the biggest threat to elephants survival, with the profit of elephant tusk being a drive for many poachers. 100,000 African elephants were poached across the continent between 2010 and 2012. Asian elephants are more vulnerable, with them being hunted for their tusks, body parts, meat and hide.
Many animals have prolonged deaths due to injuries that do not kill them because of hunting.A study of 80 radio-collared white-tailed deer found that of the 22 deer who had been shot with “traditional archery equipment,” 11 were wounded but not recovered by hunters. A British study of deer hunting found that 11 percent of deer who’d been killed by hunters died only after being shot two or more times and that some wounded deer suffered for more than 15 minutes before dying.
