Kirkgate market visit and pictures

With having different ideas of how to be less broad than by just focusing on the art of sign lettering, it lead to the idea of focusing it down to perhaps a place, street, person. With this focus now, it lead to the research of sign painters in Leeds, with the main painter being Brian the brush, of whom has done a lot of work in the Leeds area. When looking into the work he has done, it was apparent that he has done a lot of work on Kirkgate market, especially with the process of gold leaf gilding. With his work on Kirkgate market it was then thought of how Kirkgate market is full of heritage and 'old' style of signage of which is interesting. From this I decided to have the publication focus on kirkgate market and the sign lettered signs of which are featured. To gain content and further research into the market, I visited and took photos of the interesting hand made type when walking around. From these photos, I managed to decide what signs I wanted to replicate and which of the signs would be the strongest for the content.
