rgb - cymk - rgb is lighter

colour mode of image - tells you at the top next to the image name
(view) gamut warning- show colours that arent printable in cymk
when in gamut- can change the hue /saturation to get to cymk so you can take charge of the conversion
(view) proof colours- muted- colours displayed on screen as would when cymk
can turn proof colours /gamut on and off whenever
colour picker- photoshop
when choosing colour- warning sign- colour is outside of cymk- none printable - click on it and will get nearest printable colour

illustrator

show options on corner - top right
cymk is in the mode
information on cymk percentage etc on swatches panel
swatches panel- select all unused swatches - delete
new swatch - slide cymk
if global mode of swatch- works with tint
swatches panel- add used colours
double click on swatch (has to be global)
can change colour of swatch

designing for screen with web documents - can paste rgb in cymk - will change and keep swatches

spot colours- one ink is used to create colour
pantone colours- Pantone books - swatch library - colour books- Pantone, can type the reference number to use the colour wanted
spot colours allow accurate reproduction of a colour so is used in branding, its cheaper and is used to print colour that is not reproducible using cymk
