user experience and user interface

user experience (UX)

refers directly to the ways that the user/customer/operator experiences using the product/system/interface on their own terms. Therefore user experience design is the informed manipulation and development of the factors that influence the user's experiences.

people, happiness, solving problems, understanding needs, entertainment, personality, gratification, effectiveness etc

User interface (UI)

navigation, menus, drop-downs, links, windows, error messages, alerts, updates, checkboxes, text areas, tooltips, banner ads, embedded videos, swipe animations, scrolling, clicking, iconography, colours, lists, slideshows, badges, notifications, gradients, pop-ups, ok/cancel etc

the user experience and interface of Netflix:

positives;

good structure
layout is clean
my list - good interface with the option at the top and experience for the user
swiping - good interface
no buffering
easy to navigate
multiple profiles
no adds
when watching series- straight to next episode - good user experience

negatives;

visually saturated
search results
a more personalised homepage would be good
would benefit from having an notification icon when updates on film
the continue watching is a couple of rows down- should be nearer or at the top
doesn't tell you when removing something - bad user experience
perhaps to be categorised by release date
show imdb ratings
perhaps 1-100 ranking
good option for translation but having more translation options
