Cellphone Symphony poster crit
-sound waves are high impact and relate to the event well
-rationale explains the idea well
-why not try having the information curved as well to add more impact and continue the theme throughout so the text is part of the design more
-probably look best on coloured paper- to match the numbers?
-the number of waves relate to something about the concert - like the number of people that went etc- would add more context
-have the text follow the shape of the waves or in the gaps
-minimal approach works well- with the information clear to read
-think the colours would look really good inverted - black with white lines
-maybe could correlate the waves to the numbers more- numbers correspond to the frequency, spacing or curves of the waves
-type pushed further- find a typeface which visually links to the early digital technology used in cell phone symphony
-experiment with position of text- such as how David Carson does
-overall layout is done well with good use of negative space
-the layout of the numbers gives it a sense of rythmn but the colours should be more vibrant- which relate to technology and mobile phones
-if the colour scheme was better it would be a more visually effective poster
-don't think the numbers are needed
overall, from this feedback, its clear that the colour scheme used isn't appropriate and doesn't convey the performance well so this should be experimented with and looking at the concert again to gain context. However, I disagree with the comment that states the numbers aren't needed as the visual wouldn't thrive as much without the use of bold colours of the numbers. Also, the use of text should be experimented further with, looking at how the type and the visual can intertwine by curving the text for example. Also, to experiment further, and creating a different tone, the design should be inverted to see wether the black background better suits the tone of the performance. More research should be done to relate the type to technology, looking at the technology used in the time period.
