zine no 1 task

With creating the zines, the process of creating a page was up to us, in choosing wether a previous page or process would create a theme throughout, or wether to do the opposite when creating a page. Themes were then added, creating a response to go to a page and do what we think fits. When developing ideas, the visual cues I responded with, was to take an element of what was already done and replicate it but also to do the opposite, so a theme is still there however a new style of design was created. If working alone, ideas such as adding text and adding quotes, like a few people in my group did, I wouldn't have created, as I would say that I'm more safe when creating the pages. I limited myself by sticking to doing mark making and ripping strips of an interesting background, of which I tried to get out of by becoming more 'random with creating holes etc, trying not to think about what I was doing.
The visually interesting elements of the groups publications, was the 'egg' one and the 'smiley face' one. The 'egg' one was a favourite in the group, as it was in a response to the word 'scramble' so its an interesting interpretation, and it uses numbers to create the visual, on an interesting texture. With the 'smiley face' one, it stood out because of the marker type, with a hole in the middle of which was created in a response to the word obstruction.

As a group we took the most interesting visuals from our combined zines, as there was no apparent theme that combined the images. With these visuals we each responded in a different way, with using a theme that we thought would be effective to the designs. We then had a mini critique within the group in order to choose the most effective design to create into the final publication, of which was the different shades of blue as the colour works well within the designs and with the correct stock will be effective in its simplicity.
