ideas and Process of the 26 character publication
With the day task of finding ways of categorising the objects we had chosen, the common theme found with the objects was that they are all gifts of some sort, so this was the basis used for the publication. With having chosen to focus of the theme of gifts for the publication, research was done into stores like Paperchase, looking at what gift related products they stock. With wanting to be ambitious and innovative with the outcome of the publication, the design was chosen to resemble a gift tag. Thinking of ways to display the objects in an innovative an interesting way, which also creates a narrative, the idea of wrapping them was thought of. To make sure the objects were documented 26 times the idea was to take photos of the objects and use these photos to create patterns that can be used for wrapping paper that can then wrap the objects. Different techniques of manipulation were used to change the design of the wrapping paper each time, creating interesting visuals. With the wrapping paper made, it was used to wrap all 5 objects, with the objects lined up in the order of when they were received, hand wrapping each object in the wrapping paper for the picture. The narrative was created with the objects one by one being wrapped, then all wrapped in the different designs of the wrapping paper, showing the cycle of gift giving. The images were then used to create into a tag shape, of which was printed out individually, to create the publication.
