Village Books

Hold independent books, with starting off the store with the love of indie publications themselves. The have space in the store in order to showcase book events as well, with working with publishers and Leeds arts university

The book as promotion- active participation, slows people down

The book as a product

look for: concept- most important thing, needs to be clear
communicates it well
what is unique to which can only be done with a physical book- why been made into a book?
format- is it a book?

how to sell your book- mass production/not
                                     price- layer up costs
enhance- including a free print etc
adding value to it 
distribution- book shop cost, distribution cost
promotion- interact with the matter, being the face of the book, launches

attention to detail
have to be a book?
start small and simple

The visit from Village was beneficial, as it allowed me to have a look at some publications, of which use interesting layout and concepts in order to create publications. Also some of the points raised were helpful to my publication, with the idea of the format not having to be a book, of which relates to my concept, and also how adding a poster for example adds value to the publication.
